The remote radiators can handle the heat with the correct size, but then you might need a second fan to move air from the generator compartment. Two different sizes of squirrel cage fans is what Martin Diesel recommended for their setup (the bigger one was for the radiator), but I think both fans should have been bigger, and had variable speeds.

It is generally better to blow cool air in to an enclosure, room or attic, because then the cool air hits things and cools them. If you just suck hot air out, it doesn''t cool the objects inside the enclosure (room, attic) as well.

Blowing creates a reasonably well directed jet of air, while suction pulls air from all around. Therefore blowing is better if you want to cool a small region or object (which is your case), because you can direct the flow there. In the case of two fans, I am not sure what the best configuration would be.
It is therefore prudent to design your fan and heat-sink arrangement to be as self flushing as you can. This is where a blower fan usually wins out. With controlled airflow and if the air coming in can be kept clean, it tends to blow dust out of the heat-sink. Which brings me to the next point. Air Sourcing and Removal
A generator fan runs in a damp, potentially even wet, enviroment which can be a problem. Also, a motor which sits idle for long periods of time in a damp environment can have moisture infiltration into the insulation leading to failure. You need a high temperature shutdown. Another option to consider would be to run a 10 foot high exhaust pipe with a duct around it creating a chimney effect. Also consider using ducting to take advantage of the existing forced air cooling on the generator.
If it's a pusher fan with curved profile blades, and is running running backwards, it will suck air, but not near as efficiently as would be rotating proper direction. Just a thought. If the fan is sucking, it is sucking 180 F or higher air over the engine as the air must go through the rad.
The fan and box from a dead air conditioner might be a suitable (stealth) housing for a small generator. One of the comments indicated he changed fans. If your fan ever fails, you will have an extreme overheating situation and probably a fire on your hands. You need a high temperature shutdown.
