Port microgrid is an organic combination of the distributed generator (DG), energy storage, and load, with two modes of operation: grid-connected and islanded, and is one of the most important ways to effectively use renewable energy [1, 2].Microgrids are positioned in medium and low-voltage distribution networks and support plug-and-play and seamless
the parallel structure of MMGs is that all sub-microgrids connect to the external power grid in parallel [18]. The topological structure of the PV-ESS MMGs is shown in Fig. 1: sub-microgrid 1, which is used to simulate the user-side microgrid that include the

Microgrid Structure and Characteristics Figure 1shows a microgrid schematic diagram. The microgrid encompasses a portion of an electric power distribution system that is located downstream of the distribution substation, and it includes a variety of DER units and different types of end users of electricity and/or heat.
This book presents intuitive explanations of the principles and applications of microgrid structure and operation. It explores recent research on microgrid control and protection technologies, discusses the essentials of microgrids and
The microgrid model, detailed in the previous section, integrates individual component models. In this section, microgrid operation, including integrated control of these systems, is examined through two approaches. Condition-based operation relies on predefined rules invoked hourly to determine optimal solutions.
Fig. 1 shows the general structure of a microgrid, formed by different energy generation systems (conventional and unconventional), energy storage system, and power management units (e.g. converter, grid-tied inverter, pure inverter, regulator ) for the system operation and the possible connection to the grid.

A microgrid is a small electricity generation and distribution system containing distributed generation, energy storage systems, loads and monitoring and protection devices. It is an autonomous system that is self-controlled and self-managed. An energy microgrid provides users thermal energy for heating and cooling in addition to electricity.
The microgrid control consists of: (a) micro source and load controllers, (b) microgrid system central controller, and (c) distribution management system. The function of microgrid control is of three sections: (a) the upstream network interface, (b) microgrid control, and (c) protection, local control.
The microgrid control objectives consist of: (a) independent active and reactive power control, (b) correction of voltage sag and system imbalances, and (c) fulfilling the grid's load dynamics requirements. In assuring proper operation, power systems require proper control strategies.
The studies run on microgrid are classified in the two topics of feasibility and economic studies and control and optimization. The applications and types of microgrid are introduced first, and next, the objective of microgrid control is explained. Microgrid control is of the coordinated control and local control categories.
