The Simple Solar Boiler is a machine added by GregTech 5. It is a low-tech boiler that produces Steam from sunlight. While heated, the Solar Boiler has the same steam output as the Small Coal Boiler of 150L Steam per 25 Ticks, or 6L/t overall.
Solar Boilers are a Steam Age source of Power Generation that turns water into steam with sunlight. There are two variants, the Simple Solar Boiler and High Pressure Solar Boiler which has three times the output of the former. Both require silver to craft, which makes them difficult to source before having access to the Twilight Forest at LV
The boiler requires Reinforced Glass to make. The carbon recipe is locked behind an assembler and the Mixed Metal Ingot->Advanced Alloy used to have a compressor recipe but has been removed. Now it is locked behind a plate bender.
charcoal pit can make up to 1k+ charcoal in 10minutes, solar boilers for steam are pretty good. You will need more steam to power your steamturbine for LV power. I''d suggest making 1 high pressure boiler and 3-4 solar boilers. If you have discord the GTNH channel can answer all of your questions :)
High Pressure Solar Boilers are calcifying significantly quicker than they were for me on 2.1.0.0, can''t confirm if the same is true for regular Solar Boilers but I would presume they work on the same code. FTBWiki says that the calcification process (after the initial delay where they work at full capacity) should take approx. 3 and a half hours.
I lasted most of LV/MV with a solar boiler set-up feeding 4 LV steam turbines. Once I hit HV I upgraded to a Steve''s Carts tree farm -> Advanced Coke Oven -> GT large steel boiler -> HV
A max tier solar can output enough solar salt for 8.84 thermal boilers or 2.62 Large heat exchangers with both outputing the same amount of super heated steam. The large heat exchangers are cheaper to produce then the Thermal boilers but do not work well with fractional amounts so at best the solar tower will keep two of them at full efficiency
The High Pressure Solar Boiler is an upgraded version of the Simple Solar, producing 360L/s at full power. It calcifies in the same way, but will never go below 120L/s. It can be restored to full capacity by breaking and replacing when it starts to lose production.
High pressure solar boilers make 360L of steam per second. So if you want the EBF to run at 100% uptime means you need 18 high pressure solar boilers. That said you can use a mix of power sources and you don''t exactly need to run it with 100% uptime right out of the gate, and getting to MV allows you to have access to better machines and thus

There are two variants, the Simple Solar Boiler and High Pressure Solar Boiler which has three times the output of the former. The High Pressure Solar Boiler is an upgraded version of the Simple Solar, producing 360L/s at full power. It calcifies in the same way, but will never go below 120L/s. It can be restored to full capacity by breaking and replacing when it starts to lose production.
In GregTech 5 Unofficial version 5.09.16, a change was made to the Simple Solar Boiler. As the Boiler is left active and supply with normal Water instead of Distilled Water, it will slowly calcify, reducing its Steam output.
So 3 high pressure solar boilers per water tank. Each basic steam turbine consumes 1552L at max. so for 4 of them you need to generate 6208L of steam per second. Then just do the math on how many boilers you need. High pressure solar boilers make 360L of steam per second.
It is a low-tech boiler that produces Steam from sunlight. While heated, the Solar Boiler has the same steam output as the Small Coal Boiler of 150L Steam per 25 Ticks, or 6L/t overall. The Simple Solar Boiler uses the same heating and cooling math as the Small Coal Boiler, however its "fuel" is more complicated.
Water can be delivered on any side, including the top. The bottom face is recommended for water delivery as steam cannot be output to a solar boiler's bottom or top. Steam can be extracted from any single side, the active output is marked by a large dark grey square which can be relocated with a Wrench right-click.
