Solar energy generation in Türkiye set new records in 2024, providing a significant contribution to meeting the rising demand, particularly in hot summer months, a new report by London-based energy think tank Ember showed.
Bulgaria made big strides in solar, rising seven places and overtaking Türkiye at 9%. Türkiye''s share of solar power in total generation is close to that of the United Kingdom (4.6%), Switzerland (6.6%) and Poland
The state ministry applauds Tata Power Solar''s commitment and devotion to promote sustainable energy in the country. The ministry expresses its desire, that Tata Power Solar should participate in future green initiative projects like Solar Pumps, the Micro Hydro Project, and various ANERT projects. - A historic Win for Tata Power Solar

While Türkiye possesses 80 GW of floating solar potential, the focus remains on ground-mounted solar panels in hybrid plants. A bill introduced in January paves the way for floating solar installations on dammed hydro reservoirs, signalling a new era in
In the first eight months of 2024, Türkiye''s solar energy generation surged by over 40% compared to the same period in 2023, contributing to meeting record-high electricity

Wind and solar could halve Türkiye''s foreign dependency in power generation by 2030 - Solar and wind''s share in electricity generation, which stood at 13.6% in 2021, could reach 34-38% by 2030
Bulgaria made big strides in solar, rising seven places and overtaking Türkiye at 9%. Türkiye''s share of solar power in total generation is close to that of the United Kingdom (4.6%), Switzerland (6.6%) and Poland (7.3%) – countries with much less solar potential.
In the first eight months of 2024, Türkiye''s solar energy generation surged by over 40% compared to the same period in 2023, contributing to meeting record-high electricity demand during summer.
5 天之前· China currently leads in global solar power expansion, with Türkiye steadily climbing the ranks. "At the start of this year, the installed capacity of solar power plants stood at 14,000 megawatts. By the end of 2024, it will exceed 20,000 megawatts — a remarkable increase of nearly 6,000 megawatts," Erkan said.

Although Türkiye has added 11 GW of wind and solar capacity in the last five years, other European countries have proved this is possible in a single year. According to the NEP, solar energy capacity is set to reach 52 GW in 2035. To meet this target, an annual average of 3.4 GW of new solar capacity is foreseen to be added.
In 2023, Türkiye installed 2 GW of new solar power plants. However, the country needs to double its current solar power plant installation rate by two and a half times and install 5.3 GW in the next two years alone in order to reach its targets.
Türkiye can utilise its rooftop solar potential to catch up with installation rates in EU countries and get on track to meet its clean energy targets. Rooftops in Türkiye have a technical potential of 120 GW and can meet 45% of the country’s total electricity demand.
The company said its plan was to produce 500 MW of gallium-doped monocrystalline passivated emitter, rear contact silicon panels and tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) panels in 2023, before expanding to 1 GW in 2024. It’s clear that the United States has potential for Turkish module manufacturers.
Since 2008, Türkiye has installed an average of 730 MW of wind power plants (WPPs) per year. Following a record 1.7 GW of new installations in 2021, the sector has experienced a rapid slowdown over the past two years and added only 411 MW of new capacity in 2023 – the lowest level for 13 years. Yearly added capacity (MW)
The continent’s largest solar array, the 1.35 GW Kalyon Karapinar PV power plant, is also found there. This did not happen by accident. It’s a pivotal time for solar in Türkiye. In the first two months of 2024, the country added 1.1 GW of new generation capacity, equivalent to around half of its PV installation total for 2023.
