This study investigated the effects of different PV shading levels on kiwifruit growth, yield and water productivity (WP c), with three densities of 19.0% (T1), 30.4% (T2) and 38.0% (T3) of translucent PV panels installed on the South-oriented AVS roof.

When growing kiwi fruit, you can either sow the seeds, start with seedlings, or take cuttings. All three methods can produce successful plants with delicious and nutritious fruit. To sow the seeds, remove them from a mature kiwi and let

Kiwifruit do best in climates with warm summers and cool winters with sufficient ''chilling hours''. In warmer zones, look for ''low chill'' varieties of kiwifruit that will still fruit successfully. Kiwifruit are

I finished up picking the Hardy Kiwi this past weekend, though I may find a few stragglers. After almost a complete zero last year (maybe 1/10th of a pint of Issai), 2018 was a record year, with 28.5 quarts picked. At 22 oz
What is Hardy Kiwi? You''re probably familiar with the fuzzy kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa) found in grocery stores nationwide. While the hardy kiwi (Actinidia arguta) tastes a lot like this common fruit, it is smaller in size and

One-way ANOVA was used to evaluate the effects of PV shading severity on microclimate, kiwifruit leaf characteristics, yield and WP c during the growing season. Trait mean differences among the treatments were separated by Duncan’s multiple range test at a significance level of P < 0.05.
Obtain kiwifruit seeds. If you've decided to grow common kiwifruit, getting seeds can be as simple as going to the grocery store and buying a fruit. According to some gardeners, seeds from organic fruits are more likely to germinate and grow hardy adult plants.
The shading (T1) at 19.0% improved WP c by reducing ET c act and decreased yield slightly compared to CKL ( p < 0.05). Thus, T1 represented a good compromise between fruit production and PV coverage, and the AVS can be designed with 19.0% coverage for kiwifruit production in Southwest China.
Planting in too alkaline soil can result in poor growth or stunted development of the plants. When selecting a location for planting kiwifruit tree, it’s best to choose an area with full sun exposure, as kiwis require plenty of sunlight for optimal growth and fruit production.
Therefore, it is recommended that the AVS can be designed with 19% coverage for kiwifruit production in Southwest China, with the advantage of improved WP c, slight yield loss and compensation from electricity income.
Kiwifruit are relatively easy to propagate using hardwood cuttings (see “Planting”). There are now some patented and trademarked cultivars available for purchase; these may not be propagated without a license from the patent holder. Actinidia deliciosa, the green-fleshed fuzzy kiwifruit, is the most widely planted species worldwide.
