A Battolyser® at its core, is an electrolyser with battery functionality powered by patented Battolyser® technology. With electrodes composed of iron and nickel, we provide a solution that operates 100% flexible and is intrinsically safe and robust.
The Battolyser provides a balancing power in the electricity market and converts surplus power into hydrogen. This creates a brilliant and unique business model for its clients, both big energy and chemical companies but also distributed, smaller parties in e.g. the distribution grid or agricultural sector.

Dutch climate and green hydrogen tech company Battolyser Systems, has secured €40 million (more than $42 million) from the European Investment Bank to further develop its net zero solutions to help the EU achieve its Green Deal target before 2050. Battolyser Systems develops the world’s first integrated battery electrolyzer system.
Battolyser Systems can be a major accelerator for the EU to reach its goals on climate, industry, strategic autonomy and economic growth. We enable greater strategic autonomy and resilience. We build manufacturing capacity of a critical net-zero technologies on European soil, with a European dominant supply chain.
The company is currently constructing its first Megawatt system in the Port of Rotterdam, the hub of the Dutch hydrogen ecosystem. Concurrently, Battolyser Systems is developing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of up to 1 GW of Battolyser® units.
Battolyser Systems is taking significant steps toward scaling up its operations. The company is currently constructing its first Megawatt system in the Port of Rotterdam, the hub of the Dutch hydrogen ecosystem.
The Battolyser is currently experimenting with demonstrators (TRL 6-7), and is working on increasing its scale to provide Megawatt capacities. To do so, they currently grow their team for which they see much interest even in the growingly competitive market. Contribution to the Energy transition?
Europe’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) provides valuable credits for hydrogen produced from additional, local and time-correlated renewable sources. Battolyser’s inherent flexibility allows you to follow any renewables load curves, comply with the strictest rules for temporal correlation, and produce 100% green hydrogen.
We are deeply committed to excellence in all our endeavors.
