At the Battery Systems plant, Microvast intends to assemble cells produced by its Chinese sister company Microvast Power Systems in China. Initially, the production capacity is to be 1.5 GWh per year, later Ludwigsfelde is to be expanded to up to 6 GWh. Then up to 250 jobs will be created.
Microvast was founded by Yang Wu in 2006 in Houston, Texas, along with its Chinese subsidiary, Microvast Power Systems (Chinese: 微宏动力系统) in Huzhou, China. It introduced its first generation of batteries in 2009, with manufacturing starting in 2010 in Huzhou factory. [citation needed]
