Algeria has adapted and developed effective strategies. Green hydrogen could play an important role in the Algeria''s future energy system, with the added advantage of using existing gas pipelines and building upon the country''s expertise in grey hydrogen production and green ammonia manufacturing, which can be more easily exported to Europe.
The Algeria Future Energy Summit will be the official oil and gas event in the Algerian Energy calendar. Gathering Algeria''s leaders and decision makers, the major focus of the event will be on diversification, innovation and investment. Join us October 29-30, 2018.
Algeria''s transition to a new energy model was enshrined in the establishment of a renewable energy development program (PNER) as well as incentive measures. The PNER initially aimed at installing a renewable energy capacity of around 22 GW by 2030.
The future of Algeria''s hydrogen ambitions will also depend on Europe''s long-term commitment to hydrogen as a key energy source. With hydrogen uptake forecasts fluctuating, and the EU''s own internal production
Also, the Chairman and Director General of Algeria''s state oil company Sonatrach, the Chief Executive Officer of Eni, and the Chief Executive Officer of Total, Patrick Pouyanné, signed two agreements during the Algeria Future Energy Summit in Algiers, which include an exclusive partnership for offshore exploration in Algeria.
Future technologies that connect us - Renewable energies & Green hydrogen As part of the Algerian-German Energy Partnership project, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), co-organized the fifth edition of the Algerian-German Energy Day on October 23,
ALGER – Le coup d''envoi des travaux du Sommet « Algeria Future Energy » a été donné dimanche à Alger en présence du Premier ministre Ahmed Ouyahia et du ministre de l''Energie, Mustapha Guitouni. Co-organisé
These scenarios analyze Algeria''s future power system pathways and focus on the country''s national energy policies related to integrating renewable energy and developing hydrogen production.
Algeria has enormous renewable energy potential, mainly solar, which the government is trying to harness by launching an ambitious Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program. The Program consists of generating 22,000 MW of power from renewable sources between 2011 and 2030
Algeria, long renowned for its abundant hydrocarbon resources, is now navigating a dual path: sustaining its role as a key natural gas supplier to Europe while rapidly accelerating its energy transition ambitions.
Technical assistance focuses on two key areas: supporting the development of a bankable wind energy program and assisting in the preparation of a strategy to promote renewable energy for various consumer types. These initiatives aim to diversify Algeria''s energy mix and promote sustainable development in the country''s energy sector.
The future of investment in renewable energy and its role in achieving the dimensions of sustainable development in Algeria: Algeria is relying on the development of renewable energies such as solar, wind, hydroelectric and biomass energy; as a necessary solution to meet the growing domestic demand for energy and to ensure its continued supply
All the projections for the evolution of the energy sector in the world attribute to renewable resources, an important and sometimes even preponderant part in the near future (see below, the potentials of RE in Algeria, evaluated by the agency German Space Agency (DLR) and the RE Development Center (CDER)).The Algerian solar potential per year is equivalent to ten
Algeria''s renewable energy potential is enormous, mostly focused on solar. Some 60 solar photovoltaic plants, concentrated solar power plants and wind farms as well as hybrid power plants are planned.
The Energy Future Conference 2025 is a premier event dedicated to shaping Algeria''s energy future by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. Organized in partnership with Teesside University (UK) and Kasdi Merbah University of Ouargla (Algeria), this two-day conference will bring together key stakeholders from the energy

Looking ahead, Algeria''s commitment to renewable energy sets a positive trajectory for the country''s energy future. With ongoing projects and initiatives, Algeria is on track to achieve its renewable energy targets and establish itself as a
Within the framework of the dynamics of energy transition, Algeria, like many other countries in the world, seeks to use renewable energy sources to enhance its energy security by diversifying its energy mix and reducing its dependence on fossil fuels.
Embarking on this transformational journey must by all means feature centrally in Algeria''s overarching future energy strategy, that successfully leverages the generated fossil fuel cashflows to prompt a scalable renewable energy production and distribution with green hydrogen at its heart. In today''s evolving energy transition, the
Sommet « Algeria Future Energy » Le RDV des leaders de l''énergie à Alger Sous le Haut Patronage de Son Excellence Monsieur Président de la République, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, SONATRACH co-organise avec le Groupe CWC, le Sommet « Algeria Future Energy », qui se déroulera les 29 & 30 Octobre 2018 au Centre
This study aims to show the importance of Algeria transformation to renewable energies, taking into account the economic reality of the country, where fossil energies, especially gas, are still of the utmost importance. In our study, we will focus on the optimal and potential energy combination of the Algerian economy, specifically the place of the "gas" and "renewable energies"

However, the issue of energy transition became a priority for the Algerian government back in 2011. Algeria's transition to a new energy model was enshrined in the establishment of a renewable energy development program (PNER) as well as incentive measures. The PNER initially aimed at installing a renewable energy capacity of around 22 GW by 2030.
Algeria aims to reach 15,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation capacity based on renewable resources by 2035, with a growth rate of 1000 MW/year. Furthermore, around 1000 MW of off-grid renewable energy installations are expected to be put on stream by 2030. A new law on energy transition is being prepared.
In a year, Algeria has the potential of receiving about 3,000 hours of sunshine. For this reason, the country’s potential for solar energy production is about 170 TWh in a year. Within the Middle East and North Africa zone, Algeria has one of the highest potentials for solar energy production.
Currently, natural gas is the main source of Algeria’s energy. In the long term, renewable sources of energy are being considered. For example, by 2030, the government wishes to have renewable sources of energy account for at least 40% of the domestic needs.
A leading producer of natural gas and liquefied natural gas, Algeria also has ambitious renewable energy and energy efficiency programs that promise to expand its energy resources and support sustainable development.
Algeria currently generates a relatively small amount of its electricity (e.g., three percent or 686 MW annually), from renewable sources, including solar (448 MW), hydro (228 MW), and wind (10 MW).
