KION Group closes recycling loop for lithium-ion batteries (news
The KION Group produces its own lithium-ion batteries at the KION Battery Systems plant in Karlstein am Main. These are then installed in the electric-powered industrial trucks of the KION brand companies Linde MH, Fenwick, STILL, and Baoli, as well as in automated warehouse logistics systems.
Lithium-ion batteries for industrial trucks
KION Battery Systems (KBS), a joint venture between KION GROUP AG and BMZ Holding GmbH, has started production of lithium-ion batteries for industrial trucks. In the summer of 2019, the two companies announced a strategic partnership and the establishment of their own production facility in Karlstein am Main, where the BMZ Group is headquartered.
Refurbishment of Lithium-Ion Batteries and Forklift Trucks
The battery pool of Linde Material Handling Rental Services GmbH was selected in the search for a suitable testing ground for the refurbished energy storage devices. Li-ion batteries and electric forklift trucks at the rental and leasing business remain the property of the KION Group. This means that the team has easy access to battery systems.
