Promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy, and regional integration in order to ensure the sustainability of the electricity subsector in Belize. Currently, Belize has 54 MW of hydro capacity installed. In terms of biomass, according to BELCOGEN the country has additional bagasse resources that could be used for energy generation purposes (Tillett, 2011). Figure 2 summarizes Belize’s energy efficiency and renewable energy potential.
