ALSTOM and LOGSTOR ROR Holding A/S have signed an agreement regarding the sale of ALSTOMs Flowsystems business to LOGSTOR. ALSTOM''s Flowsystems Business is headquartered in Fredericia (Denmark) and has units in Sweden, Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Holland.
Alstom has won a contract worth 110 million euros to refurbish the 2,100 MW Arnot coal-fired power plant in South Africa, and increase its power output by 300 MW to 2,400 MW. The plant is owned by state-owned utility company Eskom.
Alstom Grid has successfully energised the second High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) turnkey project in South Korea, following the first also delivered by Alstom in 1997. The newly energised project, awarded in 2009, establishes a 400 MW HVDC bi-directional transmission line between Jindo and the island of Jeju.
Eskom and Alstom have a long-standing relationship: Alstom has provided major equipment to 12 of South Africas 13 coal-fired power plants and Africas only nuclear power plant. In South Africa. Alstoms presence spans over 100 years, its turbines generate 80% of the countrys installed capacity. Alstom has provided 30% of the countrys boilers.
